Overview

Origami Studio ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Side Reminder macOS application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

Side Reminder works with your existing Apple Reminders lists and processes voice input on your Mac. We also use the analytics and purchase services described below.

Information We Collect

Reminder Data

Side Reminder reads and writes reminders through Apple's EventKit API with your permission. Your lists and reminders are stored by Apple's Reminders system on your device or synced through your personal iCloud account. Our usage events do not include reminder titles or notes. Adding a location alarm can send the selected place name as part of an analytics event, as described below.

Voice Data

Side Reminder includes optional voice input powered by SenseVoice, an on-device speech recognition model. Audio is processed on your Mac and is not sent to us or a transcription server. Text you choose to save becomes part of your reminder and is stored through Apple Reminders.

Automatically Collected Data

• Analytics Data: We use PostHog to understand how the App is used. Events can include an installation identifier, app version, device and operating-system information, approximate location derived from your connection, feature usage, and session data. These identifiers can associate events from the same installation; we do not describe this data as fully anonymous.
• Purchase Information: Subscription and purchase data is managed by RevenueCat. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your payment details.

Optional Location and Feedback Actions

When you add a location alarm, an analytics event can include the selected place name. If you choose to send cancellation feedback or answer an in-app survey, the submitted feedback or answers are sent to PostHog to help us understand your experience. These fields can contain personal information if you enter it.

Link Previews and YouTube Playback

To display a link preview, the App requests the linked page and its preview image from their hosting services. Those services receive the requested URL and normal connection information, such as your IP address. Preview metadata and images are cached on your Mac.

The App uses YouTube API Services for embedded playback. YouTube thumbnails and metadata are requested when previews load; the video player loads when you select play. YouTube may receive playback and device information and serve content, including advertisements, using cookies or similar technology. Embedded playback uses a non-persistent web session. See the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service. Side Reminder does not request access to your Google account.

iCloud Sync

Your reminders are synced through Apple's native iCloud service as part of the Apple Reminders system. This storage and sync are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The App accesses reminder data with your permission; the separate analytics described above do not provide us with access to your iCloud account.

How We Use Your Information

• Provide and maintain App functionality

• Comply with legal obligations

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers who assist in operating the App:

• PostHog — Usage analytics and optional feedback
• RevenueCat — Subscription management
• YouTube/Google and linked websites — Link previews and embedded video playback as described above

Data Retention

• Local Data: App preferences and downloaded voice models remain on your Mac until you remove them. Uninstalling the App may leave these files behind.
• Reminder and iCloud Data: Managed through Apple Reminders and your iCloud settings. Uninstalling Side Reminder does not delete your reminders.
• Analytics Data: Retained for up to 24 months

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your information using macOS security frameworks and industry-standard encryption. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Your Rights

• Access your local data at any time within the App
• Delete reminders through the App or Apple Reminders. Removing the App does not delete previously collected analytics or purchase records.
• Manage iCloud sync through your device's system settings
• Contact us at the email below with questions about analytics data. The App does not currently provide an analytics opt-out setting.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.

International Users

The App is operated from South Korea. If you are accessing the App from outside South Korea, please be aware that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. The App links to this page from Settings.
